This is a post about sleep
Jan. 31st, 2023 07:00 pmI actually slept really well last night. This is a rare enough occurrence that I'm blogging about it. I have chronic insomnia, haven't slept well since my teens and it's only got worse as I've got older. I generally only get a few hours of sleep a night and not always in bed either. I usually get some frustrated tossing and turning, worrying that I'm going to wake my wife up that I end up getting up and doing something. Sometimes I'll fall asleep on the couch, in the spare room, on the kitchen floor once. Sometimes I'll get back into bed after a while and sleep.
But last night, Rhiannon and I went to bed at about 11:30, we talked for a little while, and I don't even remember falling asleep. To the best of my knowledge, I didn't wake up until 8 this morning when she got up to log in to work. It would appear that I slept wrapped in her arms which is always my favourite place, head on the pillows, far too many blankets pile on/around us. It was lovely.
Even lovelier was her telling me not to rush getting up, to take my time and have a relaxing morning. I ended up not getting up until about 10:30. I had a long, lazy shower then fixed us some pancakes and bacon for brunch (she works from home 2 days a week, I'm a housewife)
I mostly pottered this afternoon, everytime I started to do any chores Rhiannon told me to relax. I spent some time watching TV, a little time reading, worked on my current crafting project and had a little nap before making us dinner.
I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hoping for another good nights sleep tonight
